Dear Broad Green Residents Association Members and Friends

  1. West Croydon Energy Garden

If you have been through West Croydon station in the last week, you have hopefully noticed the new planters at the sunny end of the platforms.  If not below is a link to some photos:

The planters are part of the West Croydon Energy Garden project, which is being led by Croydon Transition Town with BGRA members also involved.  We have now confirmed gardening sessions for the West Croydon Energy Garden run a professional gardener.  The sessions are booked for 2.00pm – 3.00pm on Sundays 6th August, 20th August and 3rd September.  If you are interested in getting involved in the project please come along to one of the sessions at the station.

  1. Big Local Broad Green event – Saturday 29th July

There is a Big Local event in Handcroft Road estate on Saturday 29th July between 1 and 4pm.

  1. Broad Green Community Litter Pick

Following the success of our May Broad Green Community Spring Clean, we are hoping to do another litter pick in the Broad Green area, linking in again with the Don’t Mess with Croydon Take Pride campaign.

Rather than focus on the London Road again, we are looking at other areas of Broad Green to tackle.  If you would like us to clear your road, or an area near you, and are happy to help with running the event, please let me know.  Don’t worry we will sort out all the equipment and publicise the event, but we do need people living in the area to help us with a base for the day.  We haven’t decided on a date, but it could be in a Saturday in August or possibly September.

Please email me:

  1. The Past and Present of Croydon’s London Road Project

One of our members, Kake is carrying out a project to investigate and document the history of the London Road, looking at building past and present.  A real labour of love.
